It is our goal as a breeder to produce puppies who are sound in both body and mind, while maintaining the outstanding
temperament each of their respective breeds are so well known for.  We have carefully chosen each of our Purebred
Parents to ensure they are from quality, healthy lines with consistent beauty.  We have the parents of every puppy on
the premises.
We stand behind every puppy we raise and expect to be a resource to their new owner, both before and after the puppy
goes to it's new home.  Whether your experience with the dogs goes back many years, or if this is your first puppy, we
are glad to help you with any questions you might have.
Thankfully, our careful breeding produces healthy, well adjusted puppies.  However, we offer a one year written health
warranty on each of our puppies to ensure their new owner knows how serious we are about standing behind our
breeding.
Why an F1 Hybrid?
Years ago people who wanted a dog had two choices. Get a purebred or a mutt. In the last 10 years there has been the
introduction of a third option. Intentional Hybrids. People who decide upon Intentional Hybrids such as the  Maltipoo,
Poochon (Bichonpoo), or Maltichon have done so for many reasons.  A high percentage of the people choose a hybrid
for the reasons that are outlined below.

A hybrid puppy has two purebred parents of different breeds.  This intentional mix of breeds allows us to have the
predictability of the purebred, while maintaining the genetic diversity of a mixed breed dog.  A hybrid puppy's
characteristics will fall within the range of the two breeds his parents are from.   All of our  puppies are first generation
(F1) crosses.  The F1 hybrid is the healthiest cross possible due to “hybrid vigor” or genetic diversity.  We carefully
select each purebred parent for the characteristics that would result in puppies with the most desirable pet qualities.  The
hybrids are bred just to be a perfect pet for you.

We occasionally raise F1B poochons. The result in the selective breeding of a purebred poodle to an f1 hybrid poochon
commonly referred to as a “backcross” hybrid.  There are a number of practical benefits to multigenerational crossing
such as improving the chances for a desired quality or trait found in the purebred breed.  Example:  The high intelligence
of the poodle results in faster and easier training. Although there is possibly less vigor associated with this crossing than
in the first generation Poochon, the f1b still benefits from “hybrid vigor”.

We also periodically raise Shichon Poo “Daisy Dog” puppies.  These puppies are a three way hybrid cross between the
purebred Shih Tzu, Bichon and Toy Poodle.

What are the advantages of having a purebred?
Purebreds provide predictability with respect to size, color, coats, temperament and traits. If you want a friendly dog or
an aloof dog, a high-energy dog or a low-energy dog, a small dog or a large dog, a dog with lots of fur or a dog with
very short fur, you can choose a purebred that tends to have those characteristics.  The parents produce offspring that
are totally predictable.......they will be just like their parents.

Disadvantages
Many genetic health defects have been documented in purebred dogs.     Reasons for this include:

Breeding dogs to a detailed standard of appearance. Breeding to some standard is how breeds are developed in the first
place, but eventually it results in loss of genetic diversity, which leads to problems with health and vigor.  The only way
to get dogs to produce true to type (produce puppies that look like themselves) is to inbreed.  Health and temperament
can be sacrificed for a certain type of hair, eyes, etc.
A limited and closed gene pool. Without the introduction of new and unrelated genes, in the long term all living creatures
suffer "loss of genetic diversity," which inevitably leads to weaker animals with health problems.   Even when trying to
breed unrelated dogs, there will be a few common ancestors in almost every pedigree.
Breeding the same champion dogs over and over. This floods the breed not only with the same sets of good genes, but
also with the same sets of bad genetics. But when the same few dogs are bred repeatedly, as is done with the most
successful show dogs, their particular defective genes become more common throughout the breed. Then the chances
are much greater that two dogs with the SAME defective gene will get bred together -- and the defect gets expressed.
Breeding for unnatural builds. Breeds with short faces (such as Pugs and Shih Tzus)) are sweet dogs, but they tend to
having breathing problems and are prone to many health disorders. Breeds with long bodies (such as Dachshunds) are
prone to crippling back problems and paralysis.

What are the advantages to a hybrid cross?
Because their genes are usually unrelated, the chances are good that the parents of a hybrid cross puppy did not both
have the same defective genes. It is the pairing up of the same defective genes that cause some of the worst health
problems seen in most purebred dogs. Most mutt dogs have good genetic diversity, which tends to promote overall
health and vigor.

Disadvantages
With a hybrid cross, you have to put your faith in his genetic diversity, rather than breed specific traits.  A intentional
hybrid cross will be a combinations of breeds to create the dog. Thus, you might be able to have a hint as to the
temperament of the dog, you also might have a hint on how large or small the dog will be, or what type of coat the dog
will have, but you will never know for sure until the dog has fully matured.  You must be willing to accept all their
characteristics which sometimes won't be evident until they are adults.

What is a Designer Dog? A "designer" dog is a cross between two
purebred dogs aka f1 Hybrid Dog. A purebred dog is one that has been bred
over many generations to breed true. Meaning each puppy that is born looks
and has the same temperament and characteristics as one another. In most
cases a standard is written and breeders must follow this written standard.
When one breeds purebred dogs great care must be taken to insure the lines
to not become too thin.
F1 + Purebred-A = F1b Hybrid Dog
F1 + F1  = F2 Hybrid Dog
F1 + F1b = F2b Hybrid Dog
F2 + F2 = F3 Hybrid Dog
